I love pennants and they are so popular right now!! I love that they can be personalized for just about any occasion and that in many instances they can be used many times over for different holidays or events!
In the new 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog we have lots of fun and fresh pennant related "toys" to play with! There is the cute and versatile Pennant Parade stamp set that coordinates perfectly with the Petite Pennants Builder punch. Also new is a Sizzix die that cuts out 3 different sized pennants! AND SU! has also tucked in 2 flower punches on the die, just for fun! The new chipboard set that is offered in the catalog has many pennant shapes that also coordinate with the die and punch!
This photo gives you an idea of what the new die has to offer. The pieces all layer beautifully and the circles look adorable together!
I thought that someone might be interested to see how the dies and the Petite Pennant Builder punch compare and "stack up" to each other! I think that they could work very well together on some projects. The darker green and the bright yellow pennants are the ones that were punched out using the Pennant punch.
The last photo shows the new pennant die and new punches on top of the retired pennant die from last year's catalog. As you can see the old one is quite a bit larger than the new one. These old-style pennants are quite wide so when you are using this large sized pennant die, the material that you are cutting has to be folded in half and placed exactly on the die in the correct spot. It could be a bit "fiddle-y" at times, but I thought that it was well worth the time spent. I love the scalloped edge option (there are perforations all along the 2 edges if you prefer your pennants to be "scallop-less"). Both of the pennants on the die are quite large, which is a plus if you are making a garland that you actually want to hang up for decoration, but it could be bit of a detriment for card making! Well, I know that I will not be getting rid of my old, tried and true pennant die! And I am looking forward to using the new one for many fun and exciting projects to come!
